REFUGEES READING CLUB: LÆSEFORENINGEN AND THE UKRAINIAN-DANISH YOUTH HOUSE PRESENT SHARED READINGS IN ENGLISH

(Danish below)

The war in Ukraine affects all of us, leaving us with thoughts and fears that can be difficult to process. For one, thousands of people have been forced to leave their home without knowing when they can return, some of whom are now in Denmark.

As a humble help, Læseforeningen [The Reading Association] and the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House invite everyone affected by the current situation who's in need of a space to share all kinds of thoughts and feelings to participate in Shared Readings, because we believe reading can be a free space through the hard times of life.

Throughout June we will present weekly Shared Reading groups on Wednesdays from 17-18:30 in LiteraturHaus. Together, we will step into a poetic space where thoughts can flow freely but always anchored in what we read.

In this group, you don’t need any preparation to participate. A Reader Leader will each week bring novel-extracts, short stories and poems from around the globe, which we will read aloud, to discuss the thoughts, feelings, images etc. that reveal themselves to us.

While the discussions are rooted in the literature, shared reading is a great way to connect with others, to be a part of meaningful conversations and hopefully to bridge some of the gaps separating us across national, cultural and social lines. The sessions last between 1 and 1-1/2 hours and the reading and conversations will be in english.

Where: LiteraturHaus, Møllegade 7, 2200 Kbh N (Nørrebro)

When: Wednesdays at 17-18:30, starting June 1.

How: To participate, you must sign-up in advance by sending an email at sigrid@laeseforeningen.dk.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us. Please share if you know someone for whom this may be of interest.

Guidet fælleslæsning i LiteraturHaus
